13/09/2019 News

David.A.Kerfoot MBE DL, Chair of the York, North Yorkshire and East Riding Enterprise Partnership is attending the NP11 Convention of the North today, Friday 13th September, to be involved in the “Creating the Strategy" session.

‘The Convention is a great opportunity to clearly lay out to Government a strategy for the North which will bring economic growth and prosperity. We need a plan which is action orientated to ensure that the strategy is delivered and benefits our cities, rural and coastal communities. We need to be firmly in the Governments sights so that the current inequality between North and South is addressed, and that could start by seeing something in the November budget which would encourage us all.  I hope this Convention will put us at the forefront of Government thinking and reflect that the North is united in this aim and that we intend to continue to campaign for a fair share of investment which we deserve.’   The gathering of The Convention of the North and NP11 group of Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs), with support from Government, brings together the North’s political, business, community and academic leaders, along with young people’s groups, for a common agenda ‘the future of the North’, representing 16 million people. The workshops at the convention will focus on 6 key themes; Trade & Investment, Housing, Education, Skills and Work, Clean Growth, Transport and delegates had the opportunity to debate policy, ambitions, opportunities and challenges of these topics on the North.  Outcomes will be brought together in a powerful and unified case to Government.   With tangible investment, the North can fulfil its enormous potential. The YNYER LEP is committed to ensuring that this investment impacts at both a local and regional level, driving forward the position and impact of Yorkshire in our national economy.
