On the 13th September the Popup Business Café arrives at Woodend in Scarborough, bringing free, impartial advice for local businesses. This time, they’re also joined by the Scarborough Women in Rural Enterprise Network (WiRE) - who will be celebrating their sixth Birthday. All this whilst the ‘Wish You Were Here’ postcard art exhibition is underway.
‘’The Popup Business Café is great place for people to go and ask questions, no matter how obvious you think they may be. There’s not many other places where you could do so, for free, in such a relaxed and informal atmosphere
‘’WiRE is about meeting people, finding support and being enthused and inspired about business. It’s not about sales, it’s friendly, welcoming and a great way to begin networking and grow working relationships’, says Katrina Shamel of WiRE.'’
Naturally the two make a good fit. WiRE members have advised at Popups and Popups have introduced new members to WiRE.
At the Popup Business Café, local businesses people can pop in and out as they please to talk to a variety of experts on topics such as web design, marketing, accountancy, social media and more. It’s non-salesy and free, the experts are available between 9am and 1pm.
Also at Woodend, the WiRE network, will be holding their monthly networking meeting and raising money for Macmillan Cancer Support’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, whilst celebrating their impressive six year run.
The free business advice will take place in the company of the ‘Wish You Were Here’ exhibition in the Gallery at Woodened. This is an exciting exhibition in which visitors can buy an original postcard sized artwork from an established or emerging artist. All pieces sell for the same price (£20) and only after purchase will the artist’s identity be revealed. Like the businesses advice on hand, the exhibition is impartial too.
‘’It’s great to see the Popup Business Café is heading for Scarborough. I’ve been involved in previous events and the variety of businesses that have joined us has been extensive. The great thing about it is that there’s a variety of experts under one roof to provide you with independent advice and guidance for the challenges you are facing in running your businesses.’’, says Krishna De, one of the experts advising at the event on digital, social media and video marketing.
‘’ Pop-up cafes are a perfect way to discuss and discover ideas without any of the risk’’, says Richard Askew of Askew Brook web design agency, who will also be on hand to answer your questions.
‘’All the experts are local and that's important, they want the local business scene to thrive and for people to be proud of where they work and play. Take in the ‘Wish You Were Here’ exhibition too which reflects these themes - you'll find lots of great work by local artists’’.
The York, North Yorkshire and East Riding Enterprise Partnership invites existing, new and start-up business people to call in to have their questions answered by local experts. The Popup will be at Woodend, The Crescent, Scarborough on the 13th September from 9am- 1pm.
