We’re excited to bring you our refreshed website and launch our autumn/ winter programme of engagement with you today.
Like many of you, I’ve had some great experiences of how partnership can be a powerful enabler of change. So, during the last six months it has been good to spend time getting to know our partners, within our region, across the North and at a national level, understanding the hopes and dreams we share for our region. I am encouraged by people’s collective passion for York and North Yorkshire and the opportunity to work together to help our people, businesses and places to realise their full potential.
Many of these aspirations centre around our carbon negative ambition as a region. In reality, making real the economic and social benefits of this ambition will be about winning hearts and minds and aligning plans. We will need to prove that we can deliver, strengthen and build on our working relationships and create a pathway to change with clear markers to substantiate our success.
Working together, I believe we can achieve more than we might previously have believed we could. Together we have already delivered £145M of Local Growth Fund investment and over £90M of European funding. Through partnership we have delivered programmes that will continue to make a positive impact in local communities and for businesses for many years to come. Right now, together we are working build the right asks for Devolution and together we hope to see a great deal delivered for York & North Yorkshire.
Through this Autumn and Winter we are embarking on a 6-month programme of engagement. Alongside our many LEP led events, we are looking forward to joining many events led by you, our partners.
I look forward to the conversations that lie ahead in the next 6 months, as we work out in discussion with you how we can best turn plans into action. At the York & North Yorkshire Local Enterprise Partnership, we have powerful ambitions for our region’s economy. However, our ambitions aren’t ours alone, they are those of our partners across the public and private sectors and throughout the business community, to deliver good growth through a greener, fairer and stronger economy for all and work towards the potent economic opportunity as England’s first carbon negative region.
Join us at one or more of our many events across our Festival of Engagement from October to January. Find our more by visiting our newly refreshed website at ynylep.com.
